The Brief
A 50-person tech product company relocating from a generic serviced office to their own space in Calicut's emerging tech corridor. They wanted something that felt global but rooted in Kerala — a workspace their team would be proud to bring clients into.
Biophilic Strategy
We introduced a double-height planted wall as the centrepiece of the reception, using species native to Kerala's Western Ghats. A skylight above floods the space with natural light for most of the working day, reducing artificial lighting costs significantly. Exposed laterite from a local Calicut quarry lines the corridor walls — raw, honest, and entirely Kerala.
Workplace Design
Open collaborative zones flow into focused pods using acoustic panels made from compressed coconut fibre — a sustainable Kerala material rarely used in commercial settings. Meeting rooms are framed in black steel with teak inserts, giving a nod to the city's rich timber trading history.
Detail
Every door handle, desk edge, and light fitting was custom-specified. No catalogue pieces. The result is a space that photographs beautifully but, more importantly, one the team refuses to leave.
